Bobcat Women’s Cross Country Picked Seventh

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Georgia College Women's Cross Country was selected to finish seventh in the Peach Belt Conference Preseason Coaches Poll released Wednesday afternoon.

The Bobcats came in the fifth in same poll last year and return all but one starter. Among those starters is the first All-Region runner in GC history Allison Lones, who helped theBobcats to a 13th place finish in the NCAA Southeast Regional and a seventh slot at the PBC Championship last year.

The University of Montevallo was picked first in the poll receiving 9 of 12 first place votes. Georgia College received a fifth place vote, six votes for sixth place, three votes to finish seventh, and a vote to finish eighth.

Women's cross country in the Peach Belt Conference expanded this year, with Young Harris College joining the conference and the University of North Georgia bringing their program back after a two-year hiatus.

The Bobcats will start their season Aug. 31 with the Bobcat Invitational. The team will compete in five total races before the PBC Championships in Montevallo, Ala. Oct. 20.
