Keys Named Capitol One Academic All-District

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Shanteona Keys (Roswell, Ga.) of the Georgia College women’s basketball team has been named to the Capitol One Academic All-District Team for District 3 the organization announced recently.

Keys, a sophomore mass communication major, was named to the team with 4.0 GPA.

During the 2011-12 year Keys was named Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Freshman of the Year as well as being named to the All-PBC Third Team. She was named to the All-PBC Preseason Team for the 2012-13 season and has gone on to average 16.1 points, seventh in the PBC.

Players named to Academic All-District teams are now eligible for the Academic All-America Team. A student athlete need to be nominated by a current member of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and then voted for by other members. 

Also named to the same All-District team were Daniela Tarailo of USC Aiken, Brittany Cox of Pfeiffer University, Breanna Gleeson of Young Harris College, Alissa Diaz of Anderson University and Jazmine Kemp of UNC Pembroke.

The Division II Academic All-America Team will be released Wednesday, Feb. 20.
