Horseman Leads Bobcat Men to Third Place Finish

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College & State University men's cross country team kicked off the 2010 season Friday afternoon, hosting the Bobcat Invitational and taking third place. Junior Daniel Horseman (Cohutta, Ga.) led the way for the Bobcats, taking fifth in the 8K race at 29:30.

Classmate Colin Conroy (Dacula, Ga.) came in one spot and two seconds behind Horseman. Rounding out the top-10 finishers for Georgia College was freshman Zack Robinson (Snellville, Ga.), finishing eighth overall in 29:57.

Senior Tim Cary (Monroe, Ga.) crossed the line in 30:12 for 11th place, while freshman Philip Laskey (Marietta, Ga.) took 13th in his first race (30:35).

The Bobcats picked up 43 team points, just three behind second place Augusta State University and six off the pace set by team champion SCAD. The Bees also had the individual leader at 27:17 in Ignacio Fernandez.

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Sept. 18 at the RunFit Invitational in Macon, Ga.
