#3 Bobcat Baseball Beats Valdosta State, 3-1

VALDOSTA, Ga. – It was a battle, but the No. 3 Georgia College baseball team (9-2) finally put down an always tough Valdosta State University (3-8) squad Wednesday, 3-1 on the road.

Travis Echols (Lawrenceville, Ga.), Josh Young (Lake Havasu City, Ariz.) and Shawn Ward (Evans, Ga.) each tallied RBI, Echols with the go-ahead run in the eighth on a bases-loaded walk.

GC got its scoring going in the fifth, when Ikaika Anderson (Austell, Ga.) led off with a walk. Anderson promptly stole second and third, scoring on a Young sacrifice fly.

Ward ripped an RBI single up the middle in the ninth, bringing the score to 3-1 while plating Anderson, who walked.

Picking up the victory for the Bobcats was reliever Ryan Parson (Madison, Ga.) (1-1) who went 2 2/3 innings, allowing just one hit while striking out four. Senior Tanner Moore (Thomasville, Ga.) earned his fourth save of the season while tossing the final two innings scoreless.

The Bobcats are back in action Friday, Feb. 25 at 6 p.m., hosting Philadelphia University.
