ROCK HILL, S.C. –Georgia College Women's Cross Country took runner-up honors in the "Garnet" or non-Division I portion of the field at the Winthrop University/Adidas Cross Country Invitational Saturday morning. Senior Katherine Yost (Norcross, Georgia) won her second race in as many tries this season.

"Our ladies had a strong day today," said head coach Steven Cary. "It's been a rough week or so, but they responded in the best way this morning, which is competing. We've got a lot of depth on the team this year—more so than in recent years, and it showed today by the way our women mixed it up out there."

The victory for Yost brings her even with Cheryl Bambrick (1999) and Bethany Loushine (2003) for the most race wins in program history. Yost buzzed through the 5K in 18:53, topping the 84-runner field by nine seconds. The time is the second best in school history, behind her 18:09 win in the season-opening VSU Border Clash Sept. 1.

The team finished with 42 points, just seven behind team champion West Virginia Wesleyan University in the 12-team field.

The Bobcats finished three in the top-10 and seven in the top-15. Sophomore Grace Lynch (Lawrenceville, Georgia) was second on the team and eighth overall at 20:49. Freshman Tessa Allen (Atlanta) posted a 21:03 finish, good for 10th.

Classmate Sydney Brown (Canton, Georgia) ran a 21:05, good for 11th place, followed by senior Rebecca Winslow (Lawrenceville, Georgia) one slot and eight seconds behind.

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Sept. 23 at the Bulldog Stampede, hosted by Wingate University.
