GC Women’s Cross Country Slotted Fifth in PBC Preseason Poll

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) revealed the Women's Cross Country Preseason Coaches Poll Monday, with the Georgia College Women's team taking the fifth slot.

The Bobcats posted strong finishes in 2016, including sixth at the PBC Championship and 11th in the NCAA Regional. The Bobcats return a trio of seniors in Rebecca Winslow (Lawrenceville), Brittney Schwind (Suwanee) and Katherine Yost (Norcross). Last season, Yost became the first runner in Bobcat history to qualify for the NCAA Finals.

GC Women's Cross Country had 67 points, falling just one behind UNC Pembroke in fourth place. The University of North Georgia took top honors with 100 points and all 10 first-place votes from the league's head coaches. Georgia College reached as high as one second-place vote and another vote for third place.  

The Bobcats will race for the first time Friday, Sept. 1 as the Bobcats take on the field at the VSU Border Clash in Valdosta.
