Bobcat Women Take Fifth at GSW Remembrance Run, Roeck, Pasco Lead Way
AMERICUS, Ga. – The Georgia College women's cross country team began its 2013 campaign on the road Saturday, taking fifth among 12 teams at the GSW Remembrance Run, hosted by Georgia Southwestern State University.
Sophomore Taylor Roeck (Cumming, Ga.) led the way for the Bobcats in 16th place, finishing the 6K race in 23:58. The time was her third-best, but the fourth-best overall in Georgia College history. Classmate Rachel Pasko (Jefferson, Ga.) came in two spots later, finishing just over two-tenths of a second behind, a personal best time.
Bekah Houston (Dalton, Ga.) finished in 24:30 for her first collegiate race, good for 20th place. Lena White (Smyrna, Ga.) posted a 24:52 time in 24th, and Elyse Renshaw (Snellville, Ga.) rounded out the top five for the Bobcats in 32nd (25:08).
The Bobcats had 110 points, just four behind the University of North Georgia and 10 behind Georgia Regents University Augusta for third. Columbus State University took the team title, as the top seven squads were all from the Peach Belt Conference (PBC). Individual champion honors went to Cheyenne Thompson of the University of Montevallo.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, Sept. 13 hosting the team's lone home race, the 2013 Bobcat Invitational.
