MILLEDGEVILLE- Ga. – Freshman Taylor Roeck (Cumming, Ga.) of the Georgia College cross country team was named the second Bobcat Athlete of the Week for the school year for her efforts at the Fordham Fiasco in the Bronx, N.Y. Roeck is the first member of the women’s cross country team to be chosen as the Bobcat Athlete of the Week since Allison Lones (Kathleen, Ga.) won the award Oct. 24, 2010.
Roeck, competing in her first ever collegiate event, came in first for the Bobcats with a time of 21:02. Running in harsh weather conditions, her efforts were enough to finish 16th overall. The freshman runner had an average mile time of 6:46 as she led the Bobcats to an eighth place finish out of 12 schools at the Fordham Fiasco.
Women’s and men’s cross country will both be back in action Saturday, Sept. 15th as they compete in the Mercer RunFit Invitational in Macon, Ga.
