AUGUSTA, Ga. – Georgia College senior women’s cross country student-athlete Victoria Dobson (New Hamburg, Ontario) was named to the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) All-Academic Team, as announced by the conference office Thursday afternoon.
Dobson claimed the honor after an exceptional 2011 campaign on and off the field. The English major has compiled a 3.65 GPA over her tenure at GC, while picking up three top-20 finishes this season.
Her best effort came in the Bobcat Invitational, finishing 12th overall with a 5K time of 22:23.
Georgia College also had a trio of sophomores earn PBC All-Academic Honorable Mention accolades, as Allison Lones (Kathleen, Ga.), Ashton Passino (Alpharetta, Ga.) and Madeline McCane (McDonough, Ga.) were named to the list.
Lones, a pre-nursing major, has put together a 3.36 GPA while also shining on the course. She led the Bobcats in all six races this season, finishing in the top-10 three separate occasions en route to All-PBC Second Team honors for the second consecutive year.
Passino was also a key contributor for the ‘Cats, earning a pair of top-20 finishes. She also has a stellar GPA of 3.78 as a pre-nursing major.
Rounding out the collection of scholar-athletes is biology major McCane, who ran in four of six races this season. She currently owns a 3.69 GPA in her second year at Georgia College.
The women’s cross country team will head to Charlotte, N.C. Saturday, Nov. 5 to compete in the NCAA Southeast Region Championships.
