Women’s Cross Country Excels in the Classroom

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College athletic department is pleased to announce the women’s cross country team as the overall team academic winners for the 2010-11 season. 

The team compiled a department best 3.34 cumulative GPA, tops among all sports at Georgia College. 

Leading the way in the classroom for the Bobcats were then-junior Victoria Dobson (New Hamburg, Ontario) and freshman Ashton Passino (Alpharetta, Ga.), with a 3.80 and 3.79, respectively. 

Several other Bobcats amassed GPA’s over 3.30, including Sarah Balkcom (Fayetteville, Ga.), Andrea Byrnes (Snellville, Ga.), Dani Destiche (Snellville, Ga.), Allison Lones (Kathleen, Ga.), Madeline McCane (McDonough, Ga.), Sarah Ortman (N’Djamena, Chad) and Alex Taylor (Marietta, Ga.)

Director of Athletics Wendell Staton presented the Bobcats harriers with a trophy prior to their home race Sept. 2. 

Be sure to keep up with women’s cross country team as they head to Aiken, S.C. to compete in he Bridgestone-Pacer Invitational Saturday, Sept. 17 at 9:45 a.m.
