MARTINEZ, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) released its Women’s Cross Country Preseason Poll Thursday, with the Bobcats taking the fifth spot in the 10-team league.

The Bobcats picked up two third-place votes and one fourth-place vote, finishing with 48 total, just six behind No. 4-ranked UNC Pembroke. Augusta State University was first, with Columbus State University in second and Clayton State University taking third.

The Bobcats took sixth place at the PBC Championship meet in 2010, thanks in part to an All-PBC Second Team finish by Allison Lones (Kathleen, Ga.). The freshman led the Bobcats in the final six races of her rookie season.

GC cross country starts its season Friday, Sept. 2 at home, hosting the Bobcat Invitational on the West Campus Cross Country Course.
