AIKEN, S.C. – With three runners in the top-20, the Georgia College women's cross country team took fourth at the Bridgestone-Pacer Collegiate Invitational Saturday at USC Aiken. The Bobcats had the opportunity to preview the 6K course for this year's Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Championship.
Sophomore Allison Lones (Kathleen, Ga.) led the team for the third time in as many races this season, blistering the course in 24:38, good for sixth. Freshman Rebecca Shane (Lilburn, Ga.) was second on the team for the first time in her career, taking 15th in 25:37, the first time she has run a 6K in college.
The Bobcats had 84 team points, 22 behind third place University of Montevallo. Flagler College had 60 points, while Augusta State University tallied 37 to win the meet. The individual champ came from Flagler in Taylor Strekel, crossing the line in 23:55.
The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Sept. 26 at the Cod Fish Bowl in Boston.
