MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Senior Heather Raines (Lawrenceville, Ga.) of the women's cross country team at Georgia College & State University was named GCSU Athlete of the Week for the week ending Nov. 8, the sports information office announced today (Nov. 10). This is the third award for Raines and the fourth for the women's cross country team.
Raines led the Bobcats to a fourth place finish at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championship hosted by Wingate University, the best in school history. Raines placed 28th overall with a time of 25:19 and finished first for Georgia College in five of the seven races this season.
Georgia College finished runner-up at the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Championships, also an all-time best for the Bobcats.
