MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- Both the Georgia College & State University men's and women's cross country teams ranked in the Top-10 in the U.S. Cross Country Coaches Division II Southeast Regional Rankings. The poll came out today, Sept. 9, three days after both teams finished third in the Georgia College Pre-Conference Meet.
Three teams from the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) rounded out the top-10 in the Men's Southeast Regional Rankings. The Georgia College Bobcats are ranked seventh. At the beginning of the season, the Bobcats were in the No. 8 spot.
The women's cross country was one of five PBC teams to rank in the top 10. The Bobcats ranked sixth in the Southeast Regional Rankings. Recently, at the Georgia College Pre-Conference Meet, Karissa Ekstrom (Alpharetta, Ga.) finished 10th with teammate Heather Raines (Loganville, Ga.) at 13th.
The men's course was an 8K distance, as these Bobcats were also led by some fresh faces. The top four Georgia College finishers each set personal bests. Freshman Colin Conroy (Dacula, Ga.) finished 14th in 27:49, as classmate Rob Manning (Lawrenceville, Ga.) crossed the line just seven seconds later in 15th.
The Bobcats are back in action in Wingate, N.C. Saturday, Sept. 13 at the Pre-Region Meet hosted by Wingate University.
