Back-To-Back title Matches for GC Volleyball, Four-set Winners over USCA

GREENWOOD, S.C. – For the second-straight season, the No. 5-seed Georgia College Volleyball team (16-11) will play in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Championship match, as the Bobcats beat No. 1-seed USC Aiken (21-4) in the semifinals Saturday.

The Bobcats advance to the PBC Championship, set to play the winner of No. 2-seed Lander University and No. 3-seed Augusta University.

A tight match throughout, Georgia College took the first set 27-25 then dropped the second 25-21. The Bobcats swept the final two to nab the upset 25-19 and 25-23.

Sophomore Libby Bochniak (Marietta, Georgia) tallied 20-plus kills for the second match of the day, finishing with 23. Junior Emily Crowell (Horseheads, New York) was crucial in the final two sets, putting down 13 on .290 hitting. Sophomore Emily Pope (Canton, Georgia) finished with 10, one of her best efforts this season.

Senior Kayla Brockway (Jacksonville, Florida) finished with 48 assists, adding 15 digs for another double-double, her fourth-straight. Sophomore Jordyn Moellering (Cumming, Georgia) led the defense with 23 digs, flanked by 15 from Brockway, 14 from Bochniak, 13 from junior Nicole Cohen (Atlanta, Georgia) and 10 from freshman Lauren Talele (Woodstock, Georgia).

The match was the third-straight postseason victory over the Pacers by the Bobcats, beating USCA in the semifinals of the 2017 PBC Tournament and the opening round of the 2017 NCAA Southeast Regional.

The title match comes tomorrow, Nov. 11 at 1 p.m. from Finis Horne Arena in Greenwood.
