MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College women's volleyball team (7-15, 2-11 PBC) faced off against Peach Belt Conference powerhouse USC Aiken (16-5, 9-3 PBC) Friday, Oct. 24 in the Centennial Center. The Pacers front line topped the Bobcats' defense for a 3-0 victory.

The Pacers jumped straight out of the gate, taking the first set 25-15. Although the second set ended with the same result of 25-15 in USC Aiken's favor, the Bobcats took their largest lead of the match 6-2 by capitalizing on the Pacers' errors. The Bobcats captured another early lead in the third set using smart defense, but could not maintain the advantage as they fell 25-17.

Freshmen Maggie Roper (Buford) and Bailey Freeman (Hillsborough, North Carolina) headed the charge for the Bobcats' frontline with nine and seven kills, respectively. Defensively, the Bobcats had the task of slowing down Ashley Diedrich who is second on the PBC's list for most kills with 300, and first in kills per set with 4.11. Ella Anastasiades (Atlanta) was able to put up 10 digs for the match to lead the squad.

With five matches left in the season, Freeman closes in on the single season record for blocks. She is just two away from tying the record that Ashley Savransky (Roswell) set a year ago with 62.

The Bobcats return to the Centennial Center tomorrow, Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. to take on Lander University. Saturday will also be the program's first "Senior Day" as they acknowledge Lauren Johnston (Acworth) and they will be promoting breast cancer awareness with their "Dig Pink" event.
