MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Head coach Gretchen Krumdieck and the Georgia College volleyball team are proud to announce the addition of Lauren Johnston (Kennesaw, Ga.). Johnston will play outside/right-side hitter for the Bobcats next season.
Johnston is a North Cobb Christian High School product; playing under head coach Bernie Goldfine. At North Cobb Christian, she accumulated numerous awards. Her junior year (2009) she was named All-Area Best Offensive Player Coach's Award and All-County Team Honorable Mention. She was also first in kills and blocks while finishing second in digs. During Johnston's senior year (2010) she added All-Area Co-MVP while finishing the season first in kills again and second in digs.
Johnston brings some experience with her to the Bobcats, transferring from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, N.C. At Western Carolina she played under head coach Karen Glover. Johnston appeared in seven games for WCU as a freshman.
"Lauren's height is something we will need in our right-side hitter," said coach Krumdieck. "Her previous experience playing collegiate volleyball will help our team set traditions."
