MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 38 Georgia College Women's Tennis team and head coach Steve Barsby released the Spring 2018 schedule for the Bobcats Friday, with 10 chances to catch the squad at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility.
The season starts on the road against NAIA power Brenau University Saturday, Feb. 3 at 2 p.m. The home opener comes 10 days later, Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. against Augusta University, kicking off Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play as well.
Senior Day is slotted for Saturday, April 14 when the Bobcats host USC Aiken.
GC Women's Tennis boasts a tough schedule as always, weighted with 10 teams from the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) last spring. That list includes No. 4 Columbus State University on the road April 7, No. 7 University of West Florida on the road March 21 and No. 8 Flagler College at home March 28.
The Peach Belt Tournament will once again be in Florence, South Carolina from April 19-22.
The Bobcats went 12-11 with a 7-5 PBC record in 2017, making an appearance in the NCAA Regional for the 23rd straight season. Returning is the All-PBC doubles pairing of Jena Kelly (Lawrenceville) and Emma Niemi (Cumming). Niemi was the most successful singles player for the Bobcats last year as well at 11-8.
