AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) announced its most recent Tennis Players of the Week Wednesday, with No. 27 Georgia College tennis (6-3, 2-2 PBC) freshman Cristalei Polk (Powder Springs, Ga.) winning the women's weekly award.
Polk helped power the Bobcats to two conference wins this week, by posting a total record of 3-0 over the week. In the 5-4 over the University of Montevallo Saturday, she picked up a singles victory in the fourth slot over Allison Howell. Polk was up 6-3, 4-0 before Howell retired with injury. Polk also teamed with Hannah Serdinia (Suwanee, Ga.) for a 9-7 hard-fought win over Montevallo's third doubles pair. In the 6-3 win over #49 Clayton State University, Polk provided the match-clinching team point by beating Kristiin Mets 6-3, 6-4 in the fourth slot. Polk is 6-3 in singles and 6-2 in doubles action this season.
Polk is the first Player of the Week for GC Women's Tennis since May Johnson Feb. 21, 2012.
