Bobcat Tennis Teams Host Milledgeville Open for Make-A-Wish

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College tennis teams recently held the 2013 Milledgeville Open and were successful in generating over $5,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

About 100 players participated in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles brackets for players of all levels with a special presentation by the Gainous family held during a children's clinic."We are very excited to be able to raise this amount of money for Make-A-Wish," said head tennis coach and assistant athletics director Steve Barsby. "The guys and girls have worked very hard to support this amazing philanthropy."

GC assistant men's basketball coach Mark Gainous' son Abe, who was diagnosed with leukemia, will be getting his wish to the Disney California Adventure themed Cars Land thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Georgia College has received the Most Improved Award from the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) the last two years for the amount of monies the college has raised for its philanthropic work.
