GC Women’s Tennis finishes #38 in Nation

SKILLMAN, N.J. – The Georgia College women's tennis team and head coach Steve Barsby finished the 2012-13 season with a No. 38 National Ranking and spots in region lists as well.

The Bobcats were ranked No. 38 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Top-50 and fifth among seven Peach Belt Conference (PBC) schools.

National Champion Armstrong owns the No. 1 spot, with Columbus State University positioned sixth. Francis Marion University is No. 13, with Young Harris College No. 36. No. 42 Augusta State University and No. 49 Clayton State University round out the list.

The Bobcats were No. 5 in the Southeast Region, with the doubles pairing of graduating senior Kayla Barksdale and rising sophomore Katie Krupp (Evans, Ga.) ranking No. 5 in the region as well.

Barksdale and Krupp went 18-10 this past season, including a 9-4 mark in PBC play.

Bobcat women's tennis made its 19th straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2012-13, compiling a 16-12 record while going 7-6 in PBC play. Krupp and Barksdale were named to the All-PBC Second Team in doubles action.
