#19 GC Women’s Tennis Downs #39 Flagler, 6-3

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The No. 19 Georgia College women's tennis team (3-2, 2-1 PBC) beat No. 39 Flagler College (0-4, 0-1 PBC) by the score of 6-3, dominating singles play.

Kayla Barksdale (Augusta, Ga.) and Katie Krupp (Evans, Ga.) led off for the Bobcats in doubles against Hannah Goettsching and Thaisa Pereira. Barksdale and Krupp would lose in a close one 8-5.

The second doubles squad would not fare much better for the Bobcats as May Johnson (Sydney, Australia) and Leah Pridgeon (Lawrenceville, Ga.) fell 8-4 to Flagler's Barbora Sebkova and Esther Santiago.

GC women's tennis team won the third doubles match 8-5 as the Bobcats sent Ivana Marevic (Rottweil, Germany) and Michelle Lingner (Dunwoody, Ga.) to the court to take down Krista Ingrilli and Anika Cohen.

Going into singles play, the Bobcats trialed 2-1 but would quickly even it up after Barksdale's straight set win over Goettsching 6-0, 6-2.

Johnson's 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 battle with Santiago in the second slot gave the Bobcats a 3-2 lead. In first singles, Marevic picked up her second win of the day, another three-set battle 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 over Sebkova. The final Flagler victory came at fourth singles when Pereira beat Pridgeon 6-3, 6-3.

Lingner clinched the team win in the sixth slot, dominating Ingrilli 6-1, 6-1. Krupp's three-set win over Cohen (4-6, 6-3, 10-6) finished the day's action.

The Bobcats will be back in action on Tuesday, Feb. 26 when they host No. 1 Armstrong at 2 p.m.
