#16 GC Women Fall to #3 Armstrong, 9-0

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 16 Georgia College women's tennis team (3-1, 1-1 PBC) dropped their first match of the season, falling to the No. 3 Armstrong University Pirates (3-0, 2-0 PBC), 9-0 Wednesday afternoon at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility.
No. 3 singles player Ivana Marevic (Rottweil, Germany) played a tough match with Kathleen Henry, battling her to a 6-3, 7-6 loss, the tightest contest of the day.
Jessica Gardefjord rounded out the singles scoring for the Pirates, knocking off Sara Roberts (Kennesaw, Ga.) 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.
The No.1 duo of Barskdale and Setyon-Ortenzio dropped their match against Filipovski and Krtickova 8-1, as did the Marevic and Pridegeon at the No. 2 slot against Perez and Henry.
Johnson and Roberts didn't fare much better, falling to the team of Hacke and Gardefjord 8-0.
The GC women will be back in action Saturday, Feb. 25 when they host No. 13 Flagler College for a Peach Belt Conference (PBC) match at noon.
