MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) released its 2010 women’s tennis All-Conference teams this weekend and No. 30 Georgia College & State University (11-10, 6-5 PBC) snagged two spots with Diane Danna (Paris) and Bertille Lion (Lyon, France) picking up honors.
Danna took the highest honor for the Bobcats, landing on the singles first team. The national No. 48-ranked senior led Georgia College this season going 16-4 in the top singles position. She has played her best tennis late in her final season as a Bobcat, winning 12 of her last 13 matches.
The Bobcat French duo of Danna and Lion also earned a spot on the doubles second team. The pair went 12-10 for Georgia College this season in the first doubles slot. These are the first career honors for both the senior Danna and the junior Lion.
The league’s head coaches made the selections for the All-Peach Belt teams. As to be expected, Armstrong Atlantic State University cleaned house with five players among the two singles teams and two pairs on the doubles first team. AASU also took home player of the year and coach of the year honors.
