Bobcat Tennis Announces Spring Schedule

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The Georgia College & State University men's and women's tennis programs and head coach Steve Barsby have released the 2010 spring slate, as announced by the sports information office today, Jan. 12.

The No. 11 men's team kicks things off Saturday, Feb. 6 hosting Morehouse College for the season-opener beginning at 1 p.m. The women hit the road the very next day traveling to Clark Atlanta University. Thursday, Feb. 11 both squads are back in Milledgeville taking on the No. 4 Blazers of Valdosta State University for the women's home-opener.

The men host Erskine College, before both teams travel to Lees McRae Feb. 18. The Bobcats spend the rest of February together, battling Limestone College and No. 1 Armstrong Atlantic State University at home. They travel to Augusta State University Friday, Feb. 26 and then close out the month at home against USC-Aiken Sunday, Feb. 28.

The Bobcats are going to be busy in March traveling from the beach to the mountains and other places in between. Georgia College hosts Peach Belt Conference (PBC) foe Francis Marion University Friday, March 5, then travels to Savannah, Ga. to take on Lynn University's No. 2 women's team and No. 3 men's team Saturday. Next, the netters head to St. Augustine, Fla. to face Flagler College.

Both Bobcat squads go to Pensacola, Fla. March 24-26 for the White Sands Invitational hosted by the University of West Florida. The Bobcats will take on the University of North Alabama Wednesday, West Florida Thursday and Delta State University Friday. The ‘Cats will then head back to Milledgeville, where the women will face No. 10 Clayton State University Sunday, March 28 at 1 p.m. Both teams join up again for the trek to Dahlonega, Ga. facing the Saints of North Georgia March 30.  

Saturday, April 3 the Bobcats host No. 8 Columbus State University at 2 p.m. The Bobcat women, who are ranked sixth in the ITA Southeastern Regional Poll entering the spring season, will be taking on the region's third best team. The Georgia College men are ranked third in the Southeast Region, while CSU is second in the region.

The Bobcats close out the regular season at home Sunday, April 11 against SCAD for Senior Day beginning at noon. The Peach Belt Championships will be April 16-18 in Atlanta, Ga. The NCAA Regionals are May 6-8 and the NCAA Finals are May 12-15 in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
