#19 Bobcat Women Beat Pacers 6-3

AIKEN, S.C.  - The women's tennis team at Georgia College & State University (2-2, 2-1 PBC) were able to take care of business today (Feb. 20) against Peach Belt Conference (PBC) rival, University of South Carolina-Aiken (3-4, 0-3 PBC) winning two in doubles and four in singles competition.

In first doubles, Gabby Acuna (Peachtree City. Ga.) and Marjorie Ceppo (Sao Paulo, Brazil) handled Mathilde Grenet and Brittany Telford 8-4.

Bertille Lion (Saint Cyr, France) and Diane Danna (Saint Germain-En-Laye, France) of Georgia College defeated Aiken's Stephanie Humphrey and Maria Soledad Angel 8-3 at the second doubles position.

Angy Cuellar (Bogota, Colombia) and her partner, Adriana Acuna (Peachtree City, Ga.) lost a tough match to Brittany Gore and Melanie Schnieder 9-7. Nearly getting GCSU a doubles sweep.

In first singles, No. 48 Ceppo beat Humphrey in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. Lion, Gabby Acuna and Cuellar all were victorious in their singles matches as well. Lion won 6-3, 6-4 against Angel. Acuna and Telford had to go three sets in the fourth slot but Acuna held on 6-7, 6-3, 6-3. Cuellar defeated Gore 6-3, 7-5.

Danna fell 6-2, 6-3 to Grenet in second singles, while Adriana Acuna lost a 6-1, 2-6, 10-5 marathon to the Pacers' Schnieder.

The Bobcats are back in action tomorrow, Feb. 21 hosting fellow PBC member, UNC Pembroke at 1 p.m.
