MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — Anchored by seven home dates, the Georgia College Soccer program and head coach Hope Clark released its 2017 schedule Monday.
Bobcat Soccer has 18 matches in the 2017 season, and will largely be road warriors. The season starts in a two-match classic at Carson-Newman University. The Bobcats start the season against King University Friday, Sept. 1 and continue against the host Eagles Sept. 3.
The home opener comes in the Georgia College's own annual classic, the Bobcat Shootout Sept 8 and 10. The Bobcats face Queens University Friday, Sept. 8 and Tusculum College Sept. 10.
The conference opener is the first of two ranked battles this season for the Bobcats, both coming at home. No. 13 University of North Georgia invades Bobcat Field Saturday, Sept. 16 at 5 p.m., for Georgia College's annual Sea of Green game. The other ranked battle comes for Senior Day, Saturday, Sept. 28 against No. 3 Columbus State University, a 1 p.m. start in Milledgeville.
The Bobcats are fresh off a seven-win season in 2016. In coach Clark's tenure at Georgia College, the Bobcats have responded from each sub-.500 season with a 10-win campaign. The Bobcats will rely on senior leadership from forward Maddie Stephen (Norcross), and defender Sarah Miller (Duluth).
