KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) recently announced its Division II All-Region teams, with Georgia College sophomore forward Ashley Veilleux (Monroe, Ga.) taking a spot on the second team.
Veilleux had one of the more prolific scoring seasons in school history, tallying 22 points on nine goals and four assists. Among the nine goals, the forward tallied three game-winning scores.
Both her goal and point totals are good for fourth in school history. She came in ninth in scoring in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) this season, adding the 10th slot in points as well. One of the many highlights to her season was the hat trick in the 3-2 victory at No. 5 North Georgia.
All-time, the Bobcats have now had five NSCAA All-Region honorees, with Veilleux now the school’s highest decorated offensive player. Forward Hayley Ferrell earned third-team status in 2008.
The season has come to a close for GC soccer, a 2012 campaign featuring wins over three nationally-ranked opponents among the school’s 10-8-1 record. The Bobcats picked up double-digit victories for the first time since 2009, while putting Veilleux on the NSCAA All-Southeast Region Team.
The Georgia College Department of Athletics, two-time winners of the PBC Commissioner's Cup, sponsors 11 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level.
