MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Sophomore forward Erin Griffin (Lawrenceville, Ga.) of the Georgia College soccer team (1-1) was named the first Bobcat Athlete of the Week of the new school year, for her efforts during the week ending Sept. 2.
Griffin netted the first goal of the 2012 season for GC this week, the game-winning strike against Lees-McRae College at the L-R Classic Sunday. With 16:01 remaining on the second-half clock, Griffin took a cross from Kessler Matheson (Martinez, Ga.) and fired it home.
Georgia College soccer will open up the home slate Friday, Sept. 7 at 7:30 p.m., hosting Nova Southeastern University (0-0) as game two of the 2012 Bobcat Shootout. Game one will feature Tusculum College and No. 8 Saint Leo University, beginning at 5 p.m. on Bobcat Field.
