MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College women's soccer team and head coach Hope Clark released their 2013 schedule Tuesday, featuring seven home contests.
Georgia College will once again be hosting the Bobcat Shootout Sept. 13 as its home opener for the 2013 schedule.
The first game of the Bobcat Shootout will begin at 5 p.m. between Queens University and Shorter College. The Bobcats follow with a game taking on Pfeiffer University at 7:30 p.m. This tournament ends Sunday, Sept. 15 with Queens and Pfeiffer at 10 a.m. and the Bobcats battling Shorter at 12:30 p.m.
On Sept. 21, Bobcat soccer will open Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play at home against USC Aiken at 3 p.m.
This season, the Bobcats will go head-to-head with some of the top competition at the Division II level. Three nationally ranked teams are on the schedule, No. 5 Armstrong, No. 9 Columbus State University and No. 24 University of North Georgia. All three of these contests come at Bobcat Field, with UNG Sept. 28, CSU Oct. 3 and Armstrong Oct. 19. Four Bobcat opponents advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2012, with Barry University added to the list of the three nationally-ranked squads.
This year, Senior Day comes Oct. 26 against the University of Montevallo at 3 p.m.
Georgia College went 10-8-1 in 2012, a season featuring wins over three nationally-ranked opponents, including then-No. 5 North Georgia, the highest ranked win in school history. The Bobcats picked up double-digit victories for the first time since 2009 and return All-Southeast Region and All-PBC forward Ashley Veilleux (Monroe, Ga.).
