MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Freshman Kessler Matheson (Martinez, Ga.) of the Georgia College soccer team (1-1) was chosen Bobcat Athlete of the Week for the Week ending Sept. 5. This marks the first such honor for Matheson and Bobcat soccer this season.
Matheson’s first career goal proved the game winner against Southern Indiana University Sunday, as the Bobcats took down the Screaming Eagles 1-0. Matheson took a pass from Brittaney Borror (Evans, Ga.) and beat the goalkeeper one-on-one for the goal with just over 10 minutes left in the second half.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, Sept. 9 at 7:30 p.m., hosting the Bobcat Shootout. Tusculum College battles Nova Southeastern University at 5 p.m., with the Bobcats squaring off against Wingate University immediately following.
