MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Georgia College women’s soccer graduate assistant Mary Byrne will be participating in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk for the Cure Oct. 22-24 with all donations to benefit Breast Cancer Research.
The walk is a 60-mile trek over three days from Lake Lanier to Turner Field. Participants will sleep in tents on Friday and Saturday night. Every walker had to raise at least $2,300 to participate. Byrne ended up raising over $2,400 this past summer.
“I’m really excited to participate in this walk,” said Byrne. “I am walking in memory of my aunt Diane, who passed away from breast cancer. This will be a great way to raise awareness as well as be a life-changing experience for me.”
