MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. -The Georgia College & State University women's soccer team maintains control on the No. 5 slot, the highest in program history, in the NCAA Southeast Region Poll released Oct. 29. The Bobcats vanquished North Georgia 2-0 Wednesday evening in Dahlonega, Ga.
The Bobcats upgraded to 12-1-3, 5-1-1 PBC. The win last night also guaranteed them a home game in the first round of the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) playoffs. Georgia College owns third place in the conference, but could actually move up to second with a win Saturday against Columbus State University combined with a UNC Pembroke loss or tie.
Georgia College still has not lost a game since Sept. 20 and look to keep their winning streak alive when they go on the road Saturday, Nov. 1 to play Columbus State. The PBC playoffs begin Nov. 4 with matchups still to be determined by this weekend's games.
The GCSU Department of Athletics sponsors 10 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level. As a Division II program, GCSU prides itself on balancing the life of the student-athlete, evidenced by the Bobcats' multiple appearances in post-season competition as well as documented academic success and community-service involvement.
