#21 Georgia College Soccer Leaps into National Rankings
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Georgia College & State University soccer team (8-1-3, 2-1-1 PBC) made the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's (NSCAA) Division II National Rankings and climbed to third in the Regional Poll.
After spending weeks on the NCAA Division II Southeastern Regional Poll and receiving national votes last week, the Bobcats landed a spot in the National Rankings for the first time in program history. Georgia College is listed 21st in the poll released today, Oct. 14.
"We feel honored to be ranked nationally for the first time in the short history of the program," said head coach Juan Pablo Favero. "It is great for the program to be recognized in the national poll and it will serve as both reinforcement and motivation for our players to continue to achieve personal and team excellence the remainder of the season."
Two other Peach Belt Conference (PBC) teams were nationally-ranked, Columbus State University in seventh and UNC-Pembroke in the 13th slot. Columbus State continues to take top honors in the regional poll, while UNC-Pembroke rests in second. Georgia College climbed to No. 3 while fellow PBC team Armstrong Atlantic State University jumped two spots to No. 5.
The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Oct. 15 as they travel to Aiken, S.C. to face Peach Belt rival USC Aiken at 7 p.m.
