GEORGIA COLLEGE SOCCER EARNS FIRST NCAA TOURNAMENT BID
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Armed with one of the best defenses in all of Division II, the No. 19 Georgia College & State University soccer team (13-2-4) earned the first NCAA Tournament selection in program history, the NCAA announced today (Nov. 10).
The Bobcats picked up an at-large bid and are the No. 4 seed in the Southeast Region, reporting to Columbus, Ga. where they will play a first-round match with No. 5 seed Catawba College (15-4-2). The Indians and Bobcats square off Friday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. with the winner taking on top-seeded host Columbus State University Sunday afternoon.
The Bobcats are in the midst of the best season in program history, earning the highest conference, region and national ranks in school history, as well as landing seven players on the All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC) teams.
Friday's game will be broadcast on 88.9 WGUR and on the internet at www.gcsuradio.com.
