MADISON, Wis. – Officials from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region IV Hall of Fame recently announced the 2017 induction class, with Georgia College Women's Basketball alum Thresia Elskamp (2014) earning a spot.
Elskamp will be inducted as a member of the 2009-10 Madison College Women's Basketball National Championship team. The second National Championship in program history, that year the Wolfpack went 31-3 under the guidance of head coach Jessica Pelzel. Madison beat Onondaga (N.Y.) Community College 74-55 in the title game.
As a Bobcat Elskamp played two seasons, seeing action in 52 career games. She averaged 5.9 points per contest over her career, and played an instrumental role in a stifling defense as a senior on a team that made an appearance in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) title game.
The Georgia College Department of Athletics, two-time winners of the PBC Commissioner's Cup, sponsors 11 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level. As a Division II program, Bobcat Athletics prides itself on balancing the life of the student-athlete, evidenced by the teams' multiple appearances in post-season competition as well as documented academic success and community-service involvement.
