MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College women's basketball team and head coach Maurice Smith have added another piece to the 2013-2014 roster, this time in the form of LaRice (Recee) Walker.
Walker, a graduate of Sandy Creek High School in Tyrone, Ga., played under coach Cedric King her senior year. She led her team to a 25-7 record while making the first ever State Championship in school history, recording the most wins in a season for the Sandy Creek women's basketball program. Walker was named Region Player of the Year, Second Team All-State, First Team Fayette County, and the Sandy Creek Offensive Player of the Year.
"LaRice is a terrific addition to our program," said Smith. "She will bring great scoring and playmaking ability to the point guard position. She is a tough young lady with a great winning attitude."
Walker was named First Team All-Region her freshman and junior years, as well as Second Team All-Region her sophomore season. She also brought home a Second Team All-State award her junior year. Walker, originally from Franklin, Ga., plans to major in accounting at Georgia College.
