MILLEDGEVILE, Ga. – Sophomore Shanteona Keys (Roswell, Ga.), guard on Georgia College’s women’s basketball team (10-7, 6-4 PBC), was awarded the Bobcat Athlete of the Week after her performances against the USC Aiken Pacers and the Young Harris College Mountain Lions.
Keys’ performance in the past two games averaged 20.0 points and 3.0 rebounds over the two contests, shooting a total of 13-of-44 from the floor.
Keys led the Georgia College women’s basketball team to a 68-55 victory over the visiting Mountain Lions while scoring a career-high 32 points, beating her previous record of 29.
The career-high 32 points sunk by Keys is the individual-pinnacle of scoring for the Bobcats since Nov. 12, 2010 when Chimere Jordan posted 35 points.
With the week’s performance, Keys surpassed the 700 career points plateau, now standing at 713.
The Bobcats will return to action Thursday, Jan. 31 at 5:30 p.m. when they travel to take on No. 3 Clayton State University in Morrow, Ga.
