GC Women’s Basketball Falls 77-67 at Lander

GREENWOOD, S.C. – Despite 20-point efforts from Shanteona Keys (Roswell, Ga.) and Enisha Donley (Loganville, Ga.) the Georgia College women's basketball team (12-13, 8-10 PBC) lost 77-67 at Lander University (9-16, 6-12 PBC) Thursday night.

Aarika Judge wowed the home crowd with seven threes en route to 31 points, adding 10 rebounds for a double-double. The Bobcats led early, but Judge powered a Bearcat comeback from which Georgia College never recovered.

Keys went for 25 points, going 5-for-5 from downtown and pulling in seven rebounds. She now has seven 20-point games this season. Donley did her damage inside the arc, going 10-for-19 without attempting a three. She also added six rebounds, as she netted her second 20-point effort of the season.

The Bobcats out-shot Lander 47 percent (26-55) to 44 percent (26-59). The difference came in threes, as the Bearcats made nearly twice as many (12-7). Lander also controlled the rebounding 40-29.

Judge finished 7-for-11 in threes and 10-of-17 overall. She was flanked by Lea Saunders at 15 points.

The loss puts Georgia College at 8-10 in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) listed one game behind the University of North Georgia for the fourth and final playoff spot in the PBC West Division.

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, March 2 at 1:30 p.m., hosting Armstrong (12-13, 7-11 PBC) for Senior Day. The Pirates most recently beat Francis Marion University 75-61 Monday.
