Bobcats Downgrade Hurricanes with Road Win, 72-65

AMERICUS, Ga. – The Georgia College women's basketball team (12-9, 8-6 PBC) played their second road game of the week, this time beating Georgia Southwestern State University (3-19, 1-14 PBC) 72-65. The Bobcats would have to hold off a late run by the Hurricanes to seal the victory.

The Bobcats finished the game with a triad of players netting double-digit points, led by sophomore Enisha Donley (Loganville, Ga.) at 18. Classmate Shanteona Keys (Roswell, Ga.) finished with 15 points and eight rebounds.

Freshman Mckenna Rushton (Gainesville, Ga.) has been a scoring presence off the bench in recent games, posting her best scoring game as a Bobcat tonight against the Hurricanes. The rookie forward poured in 16 points in just 10 minutes of play this evening. Rushton was 5-of-6 from the field, 3-of-4 from behind the arc and a perfect 3-for-3 from the charity stripe.

Junior Thresia Elskamp (Potosi, Wis.) filled the stat sheet, finishing with four points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals.

Shaniece Sheffield led the Hurricanes with 16 points with Stormey Smith finishing with 10 points and five assists.

As a team, the Bobcats were 15-of-30 from the field in the first half, but cooled off in the second 20 minutes shooting 9-of-24. Georgia College would hold off the Hurricanes, despite being outscored 37-30 in the second half.

The Bobcats will return to the court Thursday, Feb. 14 at 5:30 p.m. when they welcome No. 3 Clayton State University to the Centennial Center.
