MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College women's basketball team (7-3, 3-0 PBC) headed back into Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play Thursday evening as they welcomed the UNC Pembroke Braves (6-6, 0-3 PBC) to the Centennial Center. The Bobcats never trailed as they improved to a perfect 3-0 record during PBC play.
The Bobcats employed a balanced offensive attack, as four Bobcats would score in double digits, with the leading scorer only putting in 12 points. Shanteona Keys (Roswell, Ga.) led the team in scoring while getting all of her 12 from behind the arc, finishing 4-of-9 for three.
Enisha Donley (Loganville, Ga.), Brandi McKinney (Cincinnati) and Krysta Lewis (Woodstock, Ga.) scored 10 points each. Donley also chipped in a team high seven rebounds, in addition to three assists and a block. Lewis and McKinney each added a steal and a block in the winning effort.
As a team the Bobcats shot 19-of-51 from the field and 10-of-28 from behind the arc, compared to the Braves 17-of-56 overall and 3-of-17 from downtown. 10 three pointers ties a season high set Nov. 17 against Carson-Newman. The Bobcats also out-rebounded the Braves by a 39-to-37 margin.
The 41 points allowed is the lowest total since Feb. 10, 2011 when the Bobcats defeated Augusta St. by a final score of 71-39
The Bobcats will hit the road for the first time in over a month, as they head north to Dahlonega, Ga. to take on North Georgia (4-5, 2-0 PBC). The Saints roster features the reigning Division II Player of the Year, Jaymee Carnes.
