MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – In addition to the free youth skills clinic Thursday, the Georgia College department of athletics has announced free admission to this week’s Stair South Holiday Classic, a solid slate of four basketball games over two days (Friday and Saturday), completely free of charge.
The four-team Stair South Holiday Classic features the Bobcats (2-6) and UNC Pembroke (3-4) from the Peach Belt Conference (PBC), Tusculum College (5-2) from the South Atlantic Conference and Limestone College (5-3) from the Conference Carolinas.
The Bobcats scored a whopping 94 points in their last home game, a win over Allen University, and are undefeated at home this season. The Braves have posted wins over Coker College, Fayetteville State University and Morris College this season.
The Pioneers’ women’s squad is the lone team to beat defending National Champion Clayton State University this season. The Limestone Saints have a conference win over King College and a 10-point win over Carson-Newman College among their five victories so far.
The free youth clinic for kids in the community will be Dec. 29 from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Centennial Center. Free and open to children in the community from age six to 12, the clinic will split into different stations incorporating drills to help young children learn the fundamentals of basketball. These drills will include but are not limited to shooting, dribbling and passing.
Action begins Friday, Dec. 30 at 5 p.m., as UNCP faces Limestone followed by the GC/Tusculum showdown. Saturday’s play is at 1 p.m., a UNCP/Tusculum faceoff with the GC/Limestone battle to follow.
