GC Receiving Votes in USA Today/ESPN Division II Top-25 Women’s Basketball Poll

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – After two straight victories the Georgia College women’s basketball team (2-0) is receiving votes in the first regular season USA Today/ESPN Top-25 poll of the season.
The Bobcats trampled the Anderson Trojans 72-52 to start the season as Maurice Smith picked up his first collegiate victory as a head coach.
Chimere Jordan (Gray, Ga.) led all scorers with 35 points, a career-high. The senior guard’s 35 points, if tied for fifth place in school history.
GC then beat USC Aiken 74-55 in a non-conference game. Once again, Jordan led all scorers with 19 points.
The ‘Cats are one of four Peach Belt Conference (PBC) schools receiving votes and only two PBC schools are listed in the top-25. Augusta State University, Francis Marion University and USC Aiken all are receiving votes as Lander University is No. 3 and Clayton State University is No. 13.
Georgia College takes on the University of West Georgia Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. The Bobcats will participate in the North Georgia Thanksgiving Classic Nov. 26-27 facing Trevecca Nazarene University and St. Augustine’s College.
