MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College women’s basketball team and head coach Maurice Smith are pleased to announce the signing of Ashleigh Danae Fossett

“Ashleigh is a great scorer,” said Smith. “She comes from a successful program at Allegany. She is a great addition to the squad and gives us an impact player. The coaching staff is expecting her to come in and play right away. Fossett is a very versatile player and can play the one, two or three.”

Fossett is a native of Frederick, Md. and played Junior College (JUCO) basketball under Garrett Sherman at Allegany College. She shot 41 percent from both the field and beyond the arc. Fossett was a 72 percent free-throw shooter at Allegany and averaged five assists, two steals and three rebounds per game.

Fossett garnered Third Team All-American at Allegany. She finished sixth in three pointers, 10th in free throws and third in assists in Maryland JUCO. Fossett was named to the Maryland JUCO All-Tournament Team and NJCAA All-Region 20 Second Team in 2009-10.

Fossett aided her team to a 30-5 record at Allegany College. Allegany was the NJCAA Div. II Regional Champions in 2011. Fossett plans to major in either education or sports medicine.

The Bobcats finished 22-7 with an 11-6 PBC mark. GC won the PBC Tournament Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2007.
