MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Thanks to a 63-45 victory over Columbus State University Wednesday night, the Georgia College women’s basketball team (20-6) advances to the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament semifinals, taking on No. 4 Lander University (27-2) Saturday, March 5 at 1 p.m. in Aiken, S.C.
Georgia College last won the PBC Tournament in 2006 and Lander took the tourney title in 2009. This season’s meeting between the two teams came way back on Dec. 4, when the Bearcats won 83-67 in the Centennial Center.
GC has recorded its eighth 20-win season this year, but first year head coach Maurice Smith is the first coach in school history to nab 20 wins in his first season on the bench.
The Bobcats are led by a pair of seniors in Chimere Jordan (Gray, Ga.) and Dominique Huffin (Tucker, Ga.) as the duo combines to 33 points per contest. Jordan is the conference leader in points per game at 21.0, and Huffin ranks 13th.
As always, follow the action on the HomeTeam stations, Country 102.3FM and ESPN 1450AM as GC Hall of Fame member Scott MacLeod is joined by student broadcaster Chandler Lee to call Saturday’s action for the 1 p.m. start.
