Women’s Hoops Tabbed Sixth in Latest Region Poll

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College women’s basketball team was ranked No. 6 in the most recent NCAA Southeast Region poll, released Wednesday, Feb. 16.

The Bobcats drop one slot after being ranked No. 5 last week.  The ‘Cats split a pair of games this week, first dismantling Augusta State University 71-39, Wednesday night at the Centennial Center.  GC then dropped a heartbreaker at No. 3 USC Aiken Saturday, 46-43.

The Bobcats rebounded quickly, topping Georgia Southwestern State University Wednesday night by a score of 67-59 after this poll was released.

Clayton State University switched spots with fellow Peach Belt Conference (PBC) member Lander University, claiming the No. 1 and No. 2 spots respectively.  Clayton State defeated Lander 83-81 on Feb. 10. 

Other PBC members ranked in the poll were USC Aiken at No. 3, followed by Francis Marion University at No. 4.  Columbus State University rounded out the rankings, coming in at No. 10.

Georgia College will square off against Columbus State for homecoming this Saturday, Feb. 19 beginning at 3 p.m.
