Late Rally Not Enough as Bobcats Fall 46-37

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College women's basketball team (8-3, 0-3 PBC) showed some grit and determination in the second half, outscoring visiting Georgia Southwestern State University (7-5, 1-2 PBC) 24-19 in the period, but a 14-point deficit heading into halftime proved too much to overcome for the Bobcats. GC fell by a final score of 46-37 at the Centennial Center Wednesday night.

For the second game in a row the Bobcats struggled from the floor, finding it difficult to generate any type of continuity on the offensive end.  Senior Chimere Jordan (Gray, Ga.) led all scorers with 17 points, but she simply was unable to find any help from her teammates.

Following a first half that saw Georgia College shoot only 15 percent (3-of-20) from the field, the Bobcats were able to spark the crowd with a 10-2 run to start the second half.  The deficit was cut to four again at the 6:08 mark, but back-to-back jumpers from junior Nadirah Gardner and senior Kanita Holloway sealed the deal for the Hurricanes.

Sophomore Karisma Boykin (Carrollton, Ga.) was the only other Bobcat to score in double-figures with 10, while senior Dominique Huffin (Tucker, Ga.) led the team with seven boards.  Freshman Krysta Lewis (Woodtsock, Ga.) also added two blocks off the bench.

The defensive effort continues to remain a positive for the Bobcats, as this marked the fourth time this season they were able to hold an opponent under 50-points.

The Georgia College women hope to end this recent two-game skid Saturday, Jan. 15 at 1:30 p.m. against Armstrong Atlantic from the friendly confines of the Centennial Center.
