INDIANAPOLIS - The NCAA Southeastern Regional Rankings were released Wednesday, March 3 and the Georgia College & State University women's basketball team (21-7) continues to keep a tight grip on the No. 6 spot. This is the sixth-straight week the Bobcats have been sixth in the regional poll.
Georgia College went 2-0 this past week in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play downing the University of Montevallo on Senior Night 64-54 and outlasting North Georgia 72-68 on the road in overtime. The poll does not include the ‘Cats' Peach Belt Tournament 60-59 quarterfinal win Tuesday over Georgia Southwestern.
Four other Peach Belt schools were listed in this week's region rankings, as Lander University continues to take top marks, while Francis Marion University moved up to No. 3. Clayton State University and Columbus State University both stayed put, remaining in the No. 5 and No. 10 slots respectively. The region poll determines the five at-large selections for the NCAA Tournament later this month.
The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, March 6 taking on Francis Marion at 3 p.m. for the semifinal round of the PBC Tournament at USC Aiken.
