MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Junior guard Chimere Jordan (Gray, Ga.) of the Georgia College & State University women's hoops team (13-4, 6-1 PBC) was named GCSU Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 24. This marks the third such honor for Jordan and the fourth for the women's basketball program on the 2009-10 campaign.
Jordan averaged 19.5 points in Bobcat conference victories over Columbus State University and University of Montevallo. The junior guard had 15 points and seven boards in the 53-45 defeat over the Cougars of Columbus State. Jordan then tallied her third 20-point game of the year against the Montevallo Falcons scoring 24 points and grabbing five caroms, all defensive, and three steals. Jordan scored six of Georgia College's final seven points, including a free-throw that sealed the 63-59 victory.
Georgia College returns to action Friday, Jan. 29 against No. 17 Francis Marion University at 5:30 p.m. in the Centennial Center.
