MARTINEZ, Ga. - Junior guard Chimere Jordan (Gray, Ga.) was named the Peach Belt Conference's (PBC) Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 10. This marks the first Bobcat to be named PBC Player of the Week in the 2009-10 campaign.
Jordan led her team in scoring in both games this week. Georgia College lost 84-66 to No. 21 Lander University Feb. 4 and Jordan had 17 points and five rebounds. In the 73-60 upset win over No. 11 Clayton State University Jordan had 18 points. She hit six three-pointers in the win, ripping down five boards with five assists as well. The victory marked the second over a ranked opponent this season as they beat No. 20 Lenoir-Rhyne University in this year's opener.
Jordan is currently tied for 10th in the PBC in scoring (13.9) and is also in 10th in three-point percentage (.382), sixth in three-pointers made (2.2) and fifth in steals (2.3).
Georgia College has 19 previous PBC Players of the Week. Dominique Huffin (Tucker, Ga.) was the last Bobcat to win the award dating back to Jan. 14, 2008.
The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Jan. 13 at 5:30 p.m. as they host Georgia Southwestern State University.
